A message from Jesse --
Azalea Strings Violin Studio comprises a small group of dedicated students.
I am committed to cultivating an intense and passionate interest and understanding
of music, and a detailed and specific mastery of the craft of violin playing.
I take the responsibillty of teaching seriously, but I also make every effort
to avoid being pedantic. I have been teaching for a few years now, and I can
recognize the trap of teaching by rote. It is as dangerous as playing by rote.
Without thought and communication both playing and teaching are a waste of
time. My overriding philosopy is pragmatism. I try to give every student the
tool kit to be a good violinist. Every student needs to know how to do certain
things. That said, students are people too, and as individuals require specific
motivation and help. Playing music is such a part of my life that it informs
my teaching style in every way. Technique is not abstract, but neccesary to
achieve ones best performance, which is our ultimate goal.
